For NeRF, tools exist to convert the density field to a mesh (for example, by sampling the NeRF into a point cloud or running marching cubes to get a surface). The process may require some tweaking and the resulting mesh might be heavy, but it's doable and an area of active development. Gaussian Splatting starts as points, so you can directly retrieve a dense point cloud of the scene. Many GS implementations let you export those points, which you could then mesh using other software if needed. Keep in mind though, these conversions might lose some visual fidelity (meshing a NeRF can smooth out fine details or miss translucent effects). If your end goal is a standard CAD model or something for a game engine, an open-source photogrammetry pipeline might still be the most straightforward path. But if you love the NeRF/GS result and just want it in a shareable form, you can always export an interactive viewer (Nerfstudio, for instance, can produce a web viewer for NeRF models). In summary: yes, you can get traditional models from NeRF/GS with extra steps, but it may not be as clean as photogrammetry's native output.
